Oscars Update
Well I stayed up and watched it, evenhad a bottle of wine to keep me going. Sadly, that ran out around 3am and I still had two hours to. The ceremony was a little flat this year, Ellen Degeneres was ok, but not great, not memorable. The biggest problem was the lack of emotional investment (on my part anyways) on any of the films, normally I have one or two nominees that I want to win. This year, there was only really Peter o'Toole, and that was because, well, he's Peter O'Toole...
So, here are my predictions and eventual winners -
Jan 27th
- Best Picture - Babel
- Best Director - Clint Eastwood
- Best Actor - Will Smith
- Best Actress - Helen Mirren
- Best Supporting Actress - Jennifer Hudson
- Best Supporting Actor - Eddie Murphy
- Best Foriegn Film - Pan's Labyrinth
- Best Animated - Happy feet
- Best Adapted Screenplay - The Departed
- Best Original Screenplay - Pan's Labyrinth
- Best Picture - The Departed
- Best Director - Martin Scorcese
- Best Actor - Forrest Whittaker
- Best Actress - Helen Mirren
- Best Supporting Actress - Jennifer Hudson
- Best Supporting Actor - Alan Arkin
- Best Foreign Film - The Lives of Others
- Best Animated - Happy feet
- Best Adapted Screenplay - The Departed
- Best Original Screenplay - Little Miss Sunshine
I was a fool to think Will Smith, I guess Whittaker was always going to take it.
The Departed was a shock, it is a good film, but I'm not sure if it's as good as his other classics. When Coppola, Lucas and Speilberg came out I thought well it's gonna be Scorcese or DePalma, and seeing as DePalma was not nominated...
Oh well, here's to next years Oscars....
